    Yes, I got an answering machine message - twice. Said same as other comments on this page, re CDPP & ATO and arrest warrants and gave phone number 03 6107 9631 to call back on. Felt suspicious so checked net and found this and other pages saying it was scam. Thanks to all who post so this is easier to find.

    A client called me today extremely upset about theletters and call supposedly from the ATO prosecutions office. She tried calling the number only to be hung up on when she said she has a financial planner. Thank goodness for this site and the ability to share the horror stories perpetuated by these criminals. I hope they are caught and punished for the distress they are causing!

    Same as most of other comments. Said they were acting for the ATO.

    Said I was under investigation. Load of Rubbish, looked up the number on Internet and went onto your site. Well done you are doing a good job. By the way it was a message left on answer phone.

    I have received similar calls from this number which was left on my machine. Before I got onto this site I rang but no answer. I did think it was a scam but was interested to get to the bottom of the scam without giving any details. I know the CDDP would not use an automated service. My curiosity has now waned.

    After receiving this message 3 times on my answering machine I called back to say I knew it was a scam & to stop calling me. The foreign voice became threatening & to my surprise he already knew my name & address (must have a good quick lookup at his fingertips) so I hung up. I just hope they don't keep bombarding me with calls.

    Don't call them back - it really is quite scary.

    Got home to 3 message today.1 yesterday and 2 in June - talk about persistent!

    Message says the caller is from Public Prosecutor on behalf of A.T.O. stating they had sent registered letters to my address which had been returned as address was incorrect, so the property is under surveillance. Phone no.03 61079631 was left with a request to return call with the intent for me to pay supposed money owing.

    I called the number from work (who auto block their ID) and was answered by a gent who clearly did not speak English as his first language so I hung up.

    Makes me cross because if my 87 year old mother heard just one message she would be beside herself with worry! The fact that they have called so often would have her climbing the walls.

    Same message, same odd accent, same demands.

    Ignored it as I had just spoken to the ATO the day before and the friendly fellow there did not mention any unsigned letter or imminent arrest!

    Came home to a message on my answering machine tonight from someone claiming to be from the CDPP, calling on behalf of the ATO. Apparently, after several failed attempts to contact me via registered post, there may be a warrant for my arrest and my house is under surveillance. This return phone number was left. Absolute load of bollocks. These people want stringing up!

    Got this phonecall claimed he was David Cooper.

    Has a warrant id, told me I had defrauded ATO since.

    2009 and the Police were going to arrest me and sell my assets by 3 pm today if I did not pay $ into a western union account. I was told not to tell anyone.

    So I rang my accountant and told to ignore this SCAM.

    I have had messages left on our home phone telling us that because we haven't replied to a registered letter that there could be a warrant out for our arrest. I have just rung this number and been told this is not how they work and to disregard.

    Received same call yesterday and today, did not answer and recorded miss call message saying he was a prosecuting officer ringing re tax evasion and my house was under surveillance. I would be receiving a registered letter to be signed and returned or I would be arrested.

    This call comes up as private number, how do I block it.

    Just got the same call recorded on my land line voice mail stating they represented the ATO who have an arrest warrant for me to be issued immediately if I didn't call number back (same number 0361079631) to pay the outstanding amount. Caller also stated a registered letter was returned to them unsigned and they could prove it if I was to confirm all my personal details. I contacted ATO immediately, confirmed as scam.

    Scam call from an automated machine saying they were either CCPP or ATO and an arrest warrant was going to be served and that we were under surveillance and to ring the above phone number. Received 3 calls 2hours apart on 15/7/2015. Didn't respond to any as realised it is a scam. Beware.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
