Then realised two messages on my answering machine had the same threat, asking me to call them. I'm sure they got my number from the Whitepages.

Automated voice message claiming to be from CDPP Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions on behalf of the ATO that they are in receipt of a petition for my arrest for fraudulent tax filing. That my home was under surveillance. To avoid such action I am to call 03 6107 9618. What a scam!

They never left a message until today which said I was under surveillance and a warrent has been issued for my arrest. I have tried to contact the ATO but their press this or that options do not include reporting threatening phone calls.

Received two messages on landline in one day to report to ATO about fraudulent tax claims. It's a recorded message in an almost unintelligible accent. Thank to others for reporting this number, sick of these scammers .

Since this smells of a fraudulent call, I searched for similar fraud on this service.
Looks like I won't be returning their call.
If they're based in Tassie and their house is being watched, I hope an arrest occurs soon.

I called the police and they confirmed that they are aware of this scam.

The ATO, or their authorised collection agents simply do NOT conduct business in this way.

Apparently it is a scam aimed at older people threatning them to pay out or face court action.
