Understanding the Caller from 03 6107 9612

If you've found yourself answering a call from 03 6107 9612 / 0361079612, you may have noticed that something felt off. This number has raised significant red flags among users who have reported interactions with the caller. Based on reliable user feedback, we can categorically classify this number as a scam, specifically related to fraudulent claims about card security.

The Nature of the Scam

In most reported encounters, callers have impersonated security representatives from major financial institutions like Mastercard and Visa. However, that is where the red flags start to multiply. As evident from one review dated 12 January 2023, a female caller not only knew the recipient's name but also failed to provide legitimate verification when questioned. Legitimate financial institutions provide clear information on how to confirm their identity when a customer expresses doubts, something this caller conspicuously avoided.

What You Should Do

If you receive a call from 03 6107 9612:

  • Do Not Engage: Avoid sharing personal or financial information. Do not confirm details like your address or any passwords.
  • Hang Up: If the caller becomes evasive or pushes for information, it's best to end the conversation promptly.
  • Block the Number: Consider blocking 03 6107 9612 / 0361079612 on your phone to prevent future calls.
  • Report the Call: If you have fallen victim or suspect fraudulent activity, report the incident to your local authorities or the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Staying Vigilant

Scammers continue to evolve in their tactics, making it vital for Australians to remain aware of potential threats. Tools like Reverseau can aid in reverse phone lookup Australia, allowing you to check unknown numbers and see if others have reported similar concerns. Remember, knowledge is power in avoiding scams. If you’re ever uncertain, it’s always safer to hang up than to risk sharing private information.

Stay safe and protect your personal information from deceitful schemes. Trust your instincts, and if it feels wrong, it probably is!

I received a call from a female caller who knew my name and claimed she was from Security. When I probed further, she said she was representing both Mastercard and Visa. However, when I requested her contact number for verification, she abruptly hung up. This clearly appears to be a scam, especially since Mastercard and Visa operate independently.

Yep just checked messages and had this call. Very dodgy. I rang them to have a go and they kept me on hold and said they didn't have my number on their records. Definitely suspicious!

My mum got the same call this morning, put a lot of pressure on her, saying the police were coming around to arrest her and that she wasn't allowed to talk to anyone about the call. Prey on the elderly. Have made calls to police and ATO advising them of call. Have also made checks with other companies ensuring no unauthorised access.

Received two messages on our answering machine after a precious phone call asking if this is the ..... residence. The first voice sounded foreign and the second voice sounded as an English accent. Some of the message is:

This is an automated message from Taxation office. You are subjected to receive this message even if your number is on a safe or a... Or don not call list. We reget to inform you that your account has been lodged and a... Shall be sent forth.... Due to tax avoidance or tax evasions.... Letter sent to your registered address... Need to issue a warning for your arrest at the address........ You or your lawyer to contact us on 03 6107 9612. I will be happy to help you.

There are spaces in the message as I couldn't understand some of the words due to it being spoken quickly. People be aware of this.

I received a call today from 03 6107 9612 saying there was an arrest warrant out for me for unpaid tax and the police would contact me shortly and he wanted to know if I was getting a lawyer.

I confirm all of the above.

Scam from the Taxation Office.

Warrant for my arrest due to unpaid/underpaid tax.

My registered address and phone are apparently under surveillance. Forceful recovery will be made.

I or my lawyer should call this number.

Soooooo many issues with this one!!

Same as for above - but when you return the call it is answered "tax department" - maybe we should treat these people the same way as we treat terrorist, because that's what they are!

The ATO will tighten up security on your file if you report this matter to them. The Federal Police are also closing in and will soon be throwing all these scumbags in prison. Do not give these people money under any circumstances.

This same recorded message has been left on my answering machine every day for about 3 weeks. Tax evasion/ unpaid tax blah blah.

Same threats, same scam, so over the constant phone calls.

Do not listen people! Accent was a bad attempt of being American/English/something else.

I received an automated call saying to call their number because I have been flagged for tax evasion or fraud and a warrant is out for our arrest. My lawyer or myself should call. Strange as the machine did not mention which member belonging to the number should call, so "I" could be one of 6.

This is definitely a scam. Will report to ATO and keep message for reporting to police.

This is so pathetically fake. I have received two recorded messages on my answering machine today telling me, in heavily accented English, that there is a warrant out for my arrest due to tax avoidance and I, or my lawyer, should phone this number in order to pay my debt. Please don't be dumb enough to fall for this rubbish.

M
Magness

He left a message saying if I didn't contact him about the debt a warrant will be issued for my arrest. Pommy accent male. He said it will be sent to the address of my phone number. He doesn't even sound official.

K
