    Yes, I have just received a rather threatening message from Michael Anderson of the ATO too.03 5902 7983. Accusations of tax evasion, avoidance, which is incredible since I feel I am always paying the ATO throughout the year, this cannot be a genuine call, the ATO would write, certainly not ring and threaten a warrant for my arrest.

    Verbal accusations are not worth the paper they are written on.

    Got the call today from "Mr Anderson". I've did a search on the number and got this blog- thanks for the information! I thought to make call and tell Mr Anderson what I think of their scam but better to let the authorities deal with this. But if "Mr Anderson" is clever enough to check this blog then: Run Mr Andersen! Agents Smith are after you!

    I got a call 10 min ago. It was 6.30 in the morning and I was asleep. Not being awake really I called the number back and straight away realised it was a scam, same reasons as other people mentioned in their posts. However, what scared me is that they know my full name (very long and unusual name), my address and home and obviously mobile number. Now, that is scary. I will can ATO today to report.

    My mother had a call from 'micheal anderson from the Australian tax office' she had her suspicions immediately so she hung up. But me myself called the number back and he answered sayings some gibberish to quickly for me to understand. But once I started to ask questions they hung up multiple times then turned their phone off.

    They are obviously a frauding system so there WILL be further action taken to authorities. This is a disgrace.

    Michael Anderson from ATO - calling about Tax Evasion - What a load of rubbish - I have not evaded any tax and have had no correspondence from ATO just this phone call.

    I tried to call back and got a message bank that was full and could not take any more messages - I am sure it is a big scam.

    BEWARE.

    Received a call from this number & was advised by a Michael Anderson from ATO that I had 15 days to have my Lawyer or Accountant contact him as I have been audited by the ATO & found to have been fraudulent. When I asked further questions, I was met with a blank refusal to provide any evidence of alleged fraud. Will be reporting this to the ATO. Disgusting!

    Had a call from this number. Didn't answer it but called back. Didn't like call and when I started asking questions was hung up on. So rang back to get answers and told not to ring number again and my file had been downloaded and hung up on again.. Obviously a scam. My tax things are ok and have been retired for a few years. Needs to be investigated.

    Received a call supposedly from ATO requesting I call back and not to ignore the message. My tax affairs are all in order so don't believe this is a genuine ATO call.

    I received a call from this number on my mobile 11.00 am 4.7.2017. The recorded message said that it was Michael Anderson from the ATO requesting an immediate call back from me about a complaint about me defrauding the ATO.

    Since y affairs are scrupulously managed by an ethical accounting company, this smut be some kind of scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
