The phone number 03 5874 5210 / 0358745210 has been reported multiple times by users, and the consensus points towards it being associated with a solar scheme scam. This is a common tactic employed by scammers to frustrate potential targets.
The Nature of the Scam
Several reports highlight that when someone does finally answer, they are greeted by an accent that suggests the caller may be overseas, typically identified as Indian. The conversations revolve around enticing individuals with government rebate schemes for solar installations. This call modus operandi appears to exploit trust and urgency, attempting to convince recipients that the offers are legitimate and time-sensitive.
Why This Number is Classified as a Scam
- User Reports: The majority of user feedback indicates that after a few rings or an awkward silence, the caller terminates the conversation. This is a classic trait of cold calling scams where answers aren't engaging or basically designed to probe for more interactions.
- Disconnection Notice: Those attempting to return calls are often met with a message stating the number is disconnected. This adds another element of frustration and mystery, hallmark traits of a fraudulent operation.
- Frequency of Contact: Users have reported multiple and continuous calls from this number despite stating their disinterest or calling to opt out, which marks a blatant disregard for consumer consent.

I got a phone call from this number and it was an Indian speaking man. They are asking about solar and says it's a government thing. This is not the first time I have gotten these calls and keep asking them to stop calling for over a month now. This is the first time I have a number. I tried ringing it back straight away and the recording says it's disconnected.
I answered and said "hello" about 5 times. No one spoke, and then they hung up. And on a Saturday afternoon. Pests.
