Identifying the Scam Behind 03 5825 2074

Recent user reports have classified the phone number 03 5825 2074 as a scam, specifically targeting individuals with a deceitful Amazon Prime renewal scheme. This phone number has raised red flags for its pushy approach and tactics that attempt to extract personal and financial information from unsuspecting Australians.

How the Scam Works

Users have indicated that this number calls individuals, claiming to be affiliated with Amazon. The caller often begins the conversation by reminding the recipient of their Amazon Prime account and claiming that it is due for renewal. Here’s where the deception unfolds: the caller typically instructs the victim to be at a device, suggesting they need to complete the transaction there and then. This pressure tactic is designed to create urgency and confuse the recipient, often leading them to divulge sensitive information.

Why This Number is Classified as a Scam

1. Pushy Behaviour: Reports show that callers are aggressive, refusing to let the recipient hang up and insisting that communication occur over the phone rather than through official channels like email.

2. Lack of Credibility: Legitimate companies, like Amazon, offer clear and secure ways to handle account issues. In contrast, calls from this number do not comply with trusted security measures.

3. User Feedback: Consistent reports from other recipients in the community (particularly via platforms like Reverseau for reverse phone lookup Australia) strengthen the claim that this number is indeed a scam.

What to Do If You Receive a Call from This Number

  • Do Not Engage: If you receive a call from 03 5825 2074 / 0358252074, it’s best to end the call immediately.
  • Verify Independently: If you have concerns about your Amazon account, log in directly to the official website or app rather than acting on unsolicited calls.
  • Report the Number: Consider reporting the scam and sharing your experience on platforms like Reverseau to help others be informed.

Always exercise caution with unsolicited calls, especially those that demand immediate action. Knowing who called you in Australia is essential, and using tools like Reverse Phone Lookup Australia can help identify these malicious numbers quickly.

Seems like a scam… called asking if I want to renew my Amazon Prime account, and said I needed to do it with a device in front of me. When I said I’ll do it via email, they replied that I cannot, and proceeded to ask what device I was using. When I told her I’ll look into it in my own time, she was very pushy, insisting I do it on the phone, which is when I hung up!
