Bank Impersonation Report for 03 5730 3200

One contributor has reported a suspicious voicemail from 03 5730 3200 (also written as 0357303200) appearing to impersonate their bank. The message referenced a specific call identification number (101), designed to create urgency and legitimacy. The contributor did not recognise the number and became cautious, which proved to be the right instinct given the impersonation tactic reported.

This Tasmanian local service number via Symbio Networks has been flagged for attempted bank impersonation. The contributor took appropriate steps by contacting their actual bank through verified channels rather than responding to the voicemail from 03 5730 3200.

What the Voicemail from 03 5730 3200 Claimed

The message left on the contributor's voicemail referenced a specific call number (101), a common tactic scammers use to appear legitimate and encourage callbacks. The voicemail was crafted to seem urgent enough to warrant immediate action, but vague enough to prompt the recipient to call back for details about the supposed banking issue.

The contributor's decision to verify through independent channels proved correct. When they contacted their bank via the messaging app and the phone number on the back of their card, neither official banking channel confirmed any legitimate communication from 0357303200. This mismatch is a clear warning sign that the voicemail from 03 5730 3200 was fraudulent.

What to Do If You Receive a Call from 03 5730 3200

Bank impersonation scams rely on urgency and the emotional response people have to potential financial threats. Here's how to protect yourself:

  • Do not: Call back the number that contacted you, answer if it calls again, or share any personal or financial details in response
  • Do: Hang up immediately, block 03 5730 3200 from calling again, and verify any banking concerns through official channels
  • Verify independently: If you're concerned about your account, use the phone number on the back of your bank card or log into your official banking app to check your account status
  • Remember: Your bank will never ask you to confirm passwords, PINs, or card details via unsolicited calls or voicemails

Didn't recognise the number or the 101 call that was left - contacted the bank via their messaging app but had but little help from them, also tried their phone number on the back of my card but had no help there either - so blocked, deleted, & forwarded the message to the bank - cannot be too careful these days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 03 5730 3200 actually my bank calling me?

No. A contributor reported that when they contacted their bank through official channels (the messaging app and the phone number on their card) in response to a voicemail from 03 5730 3200 (0357303200), neither confirmed the call was legitimate. Your bank will not contact you from an unknown number asking you to verify account details. Always verify by calling your bank directly using the number on your card.

What should I do if I already called 03 5730 3200 back?

If you called back 0357303200 and provided any personal information, contact your bank immediately using the verified number on your card or through your banking app. Monitor your accounts for suspicious activity. Do not provide banking details, passwords, or PINs to unknown callers, even if they claim to represent your bank. Block 03 5730 3200 and consider changing your passwords as a precaution.

Why did the voicemail from 03 5730 3200 mention a call reference number?

The reference number (101 in this report) is a manipulation tactic used by scammers pretending to be from banks. It creates a false sense of legitimacy and urgency, encouraging you to call back to discuss the 'reference.' Legitimate banks do not require you to call back voicemails to discuss account matters-they contact you with specific issues or verify your identity through secure channels. Do not use a reference number as proof of legitimacy.

How can I tell if a banking call is real?

Legitimate banks verify your identity first, will not ask for passwords or PINs via unsolicited calls, and will provide a direct way to verify the call by asking you to hang up and call the number on your bank card. If 03 5730 3200 or any unknown number calls claiming to be from your bank, always hang up and call your bank directly using a verified number. Never use a callback number provided in the voicemail.

Where is 03 5730 3200 based?

03 5730 3200 (0357303200) is registered as a local service number in Tasmania through Symbio Networks. However, the location of a phone number does not guarantee legitimacy. Scammers can spoof or use legitimate telecommunications services to make impersonation calls. Do not trust a call based on its area code or claimed location-verify independently through official banking channels.

Should I report 03 5730 3200 to anyone?

Yes. Report 0357303200 to Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au), the Australian Communications and Media Authority (acma.gov.au), and your bank directly. If financial fraud is suspected, report to the Australian Cyber Security Centre at cyber.gov.au. You can also contribute your experience to Reverseau to help other Australians recognise this impersonation tactic when they receive calls from 03 5730 3200.
