    So, Got a call from this number, an Indian Accent, would not answer any of my questions, when like, how do you know it is who you are asking for? How did you get my phone number? He then became really rude, and said will you shut-up and let me speak, I am NOT your normal nuisance call, not asking for anything, or any money, just want to make sure you are getting the right rebate for solar, I asked then, how do you know if we have solar? No response.

    He then continued whilst I ignored him, and then he said about once information received, you can then sign up on different levels. NOT ASKING FOR ANYTHING, then why do I have to sign up, etc. I think I had given him enough time...... So then hung up!

    Three calls in lass than an hour. Calling and mentioning the Clean Energy Council and asking if we have solar panels on our roof. The third call I just alleged harassment and hung up.

    Just received a call from a heavily accented man who completely mispronounced our family name (not due to his accent) and then asked for my husband by his first name. When I asked who was calling, he asked if I was his partner. I replied with: who are you? And he paused for ages and then he said, 'I need to talk to [husband's first name]. I said that if I don't know who's calling then I won't be putting the call through, and he asked for my husband again so I just said that this was obviously a nuisance call and I hung up. There was so much background noise that it was obviously a very big call centre and I'd bet my bottom dollar that there is no way this was located in Bendigo.

    Keep getting called SEVERAL times per day from this number about the solar rebate program. Says the number is could be from the Bendigo area, so they have either set an Indian call Centre in the Bendigo area or the number displayed is fake.

    Call from a Shane (with Indian sub continent accent) purporting to be calling from/on behalf of clean energy council. Rang back and number doesn't even ring.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
