    SCAM.

    Had a call from this number today and robotic voice recording play. The message was claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office informing of a lawsuit with "your name" being issued and to call them back. It was poorly translated and obviously a scam.

    Called from this number during work hours. There was absolutely no reference made to my name or any of my family members names. No identification from where the call was being made-no company name, reason for call etc... There was an automated message left on my voicemail, stating that if they did not hear back from me on this number then I would have an arrest warrant put out on me.

    Obviously some kind of scam... Don't ring these idiots back!!!

    This number called and left a robot voicemail about how if I don’t call back then I will get arrested. So if you never hear from me again you know what’s happened. (It’s a well known scam).

    I believe this is a scam number. The voice message left by this caller stated that they were the taxation department and that if I do not return the call they will issue me with an arrest warrant. I returned the call and a lady with a foreign accent (not Australian) answered saying hello, then when I said hello, she said she was with the taxation department, then when I said 'why did you call me' she hung up.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
