I missed a call from Jeffery Watson today 16th Feb. I assumed that it was a scam after listening to the message.

I agree with the person asking why the call cannot be traced, it is a land line.

Got a call from Jeffery Watson who claim to be from some ATO tax collection agency. He said that the ATO was taking legal action against me and that I should contact him pronto. When I called back they claimed that my number was not listed and they hung up.

M

A call from Jeffery Watson from ATO wanting urgent call back to this number. What a scammer - don't reply as it's a hoax. Why can't this number be traced / deleted and these criminals be caught? It's a land line for God's sake and they have been doing it for months at least!!

Spam call from "Geoffrey Watson" telling me I needed to contact this number regarding the serious matter of my tax evasion.

M
Medley

Left a message on my answering machine. A very serious "Geoffrey Watson" suggesting I contact a lawyer because of tax evasion. He didn't ask for a person ie "I need to speak to...", we have used an accountant for years AND he said he was calling from the DPP "headquarters" in Canberra but left a Victorian number? Plus Australians don't use the word "headquarters" unless you have watched too many spy movies.

ATO scam re fraud charges from a Richard Johnson. Very elaborate spiel that I didn't pick up on until I was told I could pay supposed debt within 2 hrs. Western Union transfer was an option he gave me. Knew enough about me to have me fooled for a while. Hung up after telling him I'd called ATO general enquiries to have this verified. Called ATO to be told this is a SCAM.

Man called my mother scaring her into thinking it was the ATO. Reported it to the police and they said they could not do anything about it. Be care not to give this person your details.

When I got home there was also a message from Jason O'Connor who had an Indian accent saying he was from the ATO. The answering machine logged his real number though: 07 3018 7514 which is in Queensland.

D

I've received the same call today saying I'd be arrested tomorrow, Saturday, at 10am. When I replied with "this is rubbish", the call was disconnected. What a stupid scam!

BEWARE FRAUD ALERT.

Call from jason O'Connor.

Does not make reference to any names.

Calling to tell you, you will be arrested by the local 'sheriff'.

Saying he is from the australian taxation office, which has a completly different number (13 28 61).

Please don't fall for his bullshit! And spread the word, this is a scam artist having a laugh at our expense.

Furthermore with a matter like this you should always be notified by mail from the real ATO.

C

I received a message on my answering machine from a Jason O'Connor from the ATO and the police would be knocking on my door with a warrant for my arrest for tax evasion.

What a joke!

I actually spoke to Jason O'conor (good Irish Phillipino name) it is. In conversation he is extremely threatening. He provided a case ref no. And staff ID no, although I gave no details myself. On speaking with my accountants they have called the number and had a further conversation, with all details now passed onto the real Australian tax dept and the federal police.

Wish I was as lucky in LOTTO as I am with these scammers. I too have received another call from Jason O'Connor with the same message, that the police are coming to arrest me. He doesn't address a particular person. I suggest he get an honest job.

C

A client had received a call from 'Jason O'Conner' advising him that he was going to be arrested due to tax evasion. My client gave me the call back details, and when I called and introduced myself, I was immediately hung up on, and could no longer get through. Complete fraud.

Same ploy as for other calls, from ATO, I hung up.

Got a call from this number this afternoon (28/10/2015). Jason O'Connor, left a message on the answering machine. Yep the police are coming to arrest one of the five of us, didn't specify which one lol. He finished with 'have a wonderful day'. This annoys me so much as some people will be taken in and scared by this.

Same message about tax fraud. Didn't even specify which member of household he was referring to. This is not the kind of information that someone from ATO would leave on an answering machine. This is a new kind of scam. Great.

And the police from my local "department" are coming to my address with a warrant to arrest me, he finished this false allegation with Have a wonderful day!
