    Autodialled call that hangs up if you don't speak. I called back and told them to stop calling me to which they replied "oh of course, but our wine is 80% off, are you sure you aren't interested?". They call once day from different 4206 numbers which I suspect to be spoofed.

    A guy named James who states he is from the wine group is repeatedly calling me. I blocked a different number and he just changes number. Rang me again today. Previous conversation I asked him again to stop calling my number and he said I have never called you. Fine. With an attitude. After that he still refuses to stop calling.

    A guy with an Asian accent rang from 08 6186 7558 and said my Telstra Internet had been compromised. I listened for a bit to see where he was going with the conversation. I asked him where he was ringing from and he said Melbourne. I said that the number was a Perth number and he gave me a bullshit response. Then I lost it and started swearing at him and saying he was a scammer. He told me to shut up and hung up on me. Not two minutes later I received a call from 03 4206 6210 which I did not pick up. These people MUST be stopped!!

    I have about 5 calls from “Newtown” every day!!! Each time the phone number is slightly different so blocking this number doesn’t help the ringing stop!! I’m so sick of it!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
