    No message left. Probably a telemarketer or a scam.

    Called about 3 times until I finally picked up. Very noisy background and delayed responses from male speaker with foreign accent. Claimed that there was a recent hike in electricity prices and he worked with retailers and could help see if I am at a good rate. Kept asking me for my energy provider over and over again. When I said I am happy with my provider he almost yelled “I am not changing your provider”. That was when I said thanks, bye, and blocked.

    Likely Scam call from mobile number 0341 597 873 to our home phone in Mackay Queensland. Male speaker with foreign accent (hard to understand) claims there's a mistake with our electricity account and wanted some personal address and bank account details to fix the problem.

    He didn't want me to hang up when I said this didn't sound right. Then I finished the call.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
