02 9677 7912 (0296777912): Contributors report calls from this Telstra NSW number claiming to be from a crane company, then hanging up with no message. Likely spoofed number.

Spoofed Crane Company Calls from 02 9677 7912

Two contributors have reported receiving calls from 02 9677 7912 (also written as 0296777912) where the caller has hung up immediately without leaving a message. Both contributors investigated the number and identified it as belonging to a legitimate crane company operating in NSW. The pattern suggests that 0296777912 may be a spoofed number, where scammers or pranksters have masked their actual identity using this business phone number.

Spoofing involves falsifying the caller ID information displayed on your phone. When someone calls from 02 9677 7912 but it's not the actual crane company, the real business can be caught in the crossfire, receiving complaints and negative attention from people who received the spoofed calls.

What Callers from 02 9677 7912 Are Doing

Both reports about 02 9677 7912 describe the same behaviour: an incoming call followed by immediate disconnection. No message is left on voicemail, no greeting is offered, and there is no attempted communication. One contributor noted that the call from 0296777912 appeared legitimate enough to answer, but the hang-up with no message suggests either a misdirected call or intentional harassment.

The silence combined with the spoofed crane company identity raises questions about the caller's intent. Contributors speculate this could be scammers testing active numbers before launching a larger campaign, pranksters, or an automated system performing callbacks to generate return calls that might incur costs.

Report Patterns and Timing

Both reports of 02 9677 7912 arrived within two weeks of each other (23 February and 7 March 2026), with one call occurring in early morning hours (3:45 AM) and another during business hours (9:19 AM). The geographic allocation shows 0296777912 is registered to Telstra Limited in NSW, which aligns with the crane company business location contributors identified.

The fact that two separate contributors received calls from the same spoofed number within a fortnight suggests either deliberate repeated calls or a pattern of spoofing activity using this particular business number.
