I was given this phone number as the number for Telstra Technical Support Department. I was also given the address as 215 Miller Street, North Sydney. The very polite Indian gentleman also gave me his name - Alan, his employee id number - 8600079 and a reference number for my call. At first I was advised they'd have to disconnect my internet which I said was fine. He then changed his mind and said they could probably fix it from my end but I'd have to have my computer on so they could access the information needed. I told him I was busy and did not have the computer on at this time and that I'd call him back. He tried to convince me that if it wasn't sorted out it may be disconnected for a week or so, which I said was OK as I didn't use it that much. Of course, when I tried to call back (really just to verify if it was a connected number as I knew this was a scam) the call cannot be connected. Unfortunately our phone doesn't offer caller id so I can't access the actual number from which he was calling.

Just remember everybody - Telstra will not cold call you to get information from your system - they are all scams.

The two men using this number claim they are from Telstra Technical Department. They claim to want to fix your computer but you have to pay up front when they arrive. When questioned further about this payment they mentioned something about having to pay Microsoft first. This is nothing more than a scam. When you ring the number back it is disconnected.
