02 9271 3760 (0292713760): Contributors report callers impersonating NAB and American Express, requesting card details and personal information with knowledge of partial account data.
Bank Impersonation Reports for 02 9271 3760
Two contributors have reported scam calls from 02 9271 3760 (also written as 0292713760) involving callers impersonating major Australian and international banks. Both reports describe callers with Indian accents claiming to represent NAB or American Express, requesting sensitive card and personal details under the guise of fraud prevention.
What makes these calls particularly concerning is that the callers already possessed partial card information and, in at least one case, the contributor's full name. This suggests either a compromised phone number or a spoofed caller ID combined with data sourced from a breach or sold database.
What Callers from 02 9271 3760 Claim
One contributor received a call from 02 9271 3760 where the caller identified himself as representing NAB. The caller claimed there were fraudulent transactions on the recipient's card and requested full card and personal details to "resolve" the issue. The caller already had partial card information, which added false credibility to the fraudulent claim.
A second contributor reported a similar call from 0292713760 where the caller claimed to represent American Express. Despite the recipient having no American Express account, the caller used their full name and asked about authorising a transaction. This pattern of requesting confirmation about transactions the recipient never made is a classic impersonation tactic designed to either extract details or convince victims that fraud has actually occurred.
Report Patterns and Timing
Both scam reports came from answered calls, meaning contributors engaged with the callers before recognising the fraud. The timing of these reports spans several months, with one in mid-2024 and another in late 2024, suggesting ongoing activity from this number or a spoofed variant.
One contributor took immediate protective action by cancelling their card and visiting their bank in person. The bank confirmed the call was fraudulent and that no actual fraud had occurred on the account. This swift action likely prevented further compromise, though it demonstrates how convincing these impersonation attempts can be, especially when callers possess partial account details.

What Our Users Reviewed
Definitely a scam. Got a call from that number. Indian guy. Identifying himself from Nab. Told me I had fraudulent transactions on my card. And wanted my full details. He also had part of my card details. I cancelled my card myself and went to the bank and they told me that was definitely a fraudulent call and my card never had any fraud on it. Either that phone number is compromised or he is using a spoof number changing device. Waste his time next time.
Official American Express number on back of card, called to enrol for Priority Pass, they were helpful
Got a call from this number. Indian accent. Say he is from American Express. He knows my full name. And asked me if I authorised a transaction but I don’t even have an account with American Express.

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Why would a caller from 02 9271 3760 already know my card details?
The caller likely obtained your information from a data breach, purchased database, or phishing attempt unrelated to this call. Scammers often combine spoofed caller IDs (like 0292713760) with stolen data to appear legitimate. Legitimate banks never initiate contact requesting full card details, so any unsolicited request is a red flag regardless of what information they claim to already have.
Is 02 9271 3760 really from NAB or American Express?
No. While the allocation shows 0292713760 is a Telstra local service number in NSW, scammers can spoof caller IDs to impersonate any organisation. Both reports confirm the calls were fraudulent - the callers falsely claimed to represent NAB and American Express. Always verify independently by calling the official number on your card or statement, never using a number provided by an inbound caller.
What should I do if I already gave details to a caller from 02 9271 3760?
Contact your bank or card issuer immediately using the official number on your card. Report the fraudulent call from 02 9271 3760 and ask them to monitor your account for unauthorised activity. Cancel and replace your card if you disclosed the CVV, PIN, or expiry date. Monitor your account statements closely for the next 3-6 months and consider placing a fraud alert with credit reporting agencies.
Could 02 9271 3760 be a legitimate bank number that's been compromised?
While the number 0292713760 may have been legitimately allocated, scammers can spoof any number to appear on your caller ID. The reports indicate the calls were fraudulent - the callers made false claims about unauthorised transactions that never occurred. Legitimate banks verify through independent channels, not inbound cold calls requesting sensitive details. Always hang up and call back using an official number.
How can I protect myself from calls like 02 9271 3760?
Never provide card details, PINs, passwords, or personal information in response to unsolicited calls, regardless of the caller's claims. If someone calls claiming to be from your bank with fraud concerns, hang up and call your bank back using the number on your card. Block 02 9271 3760 on your phone and report it to your carrier. Most banks have fraud teams you can call proactively if concerned about your account security.
Should I call back 02 9271 3760 to verify if it's real?
No. Do not call back 0292713760. Scammers can use callback request tactics to establish contact. If you're concerned about your account, always initiate contact by calling the official number on the back of your card, your bank's website, or calling 13 22 61 (Scamwatch hotline). Never use contact information provided by an inbound caller, even if it matches what you think is your bank's number.
