    I had the same call. Asking about a car accident and receiving compensation as it wasn't my fault. When I asked what car was involved they could not tell me, when I asked what insurance company they said NRMA. I said it didn't sound legitimate and they babbled on about not asking for details etc then they hung up.

    Scam. Indian sounding woman said hello. I immediately asked her where she was calling from and she said Accident Helpline. I asked her why she was calling and she said you recently had an accident. I asked her where she got my number and she said your insurance company. When I asked what company she said NRMA, I said no, and hung up. When I called the number back a recorded message told me the number I was calling was not connected.

    Annoying caller, hangs up after a pause when the call is answered. I called the number and a recorded message informed me the call could not be connected.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
