    They must be doing the rounds today. My call from this "Accident Info" company was at 11.20am.

    When I said I had no accident and this was a scam they quickly hung up.

    I had a phone call from 0291947297 today 26/09/17 at 12:20 from china because of the accent and bad English. Telling me I had an accident, I play alone but she couldn't give me any information after telling me all the time they got the information, she wanted me to give details about my address, car and other info, but at the end I told her I was recording the call which I was and I will send it to the police. I told her she was a scammer and a terrible creature. I just want advice everybody not to believe what people can tell you over the phone. There are so many scammers and it is really disgusting world we are living now. Please be careful. Anyone selling or telling about tax problems, insurance and accident are all false. Hand up the phone.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
