I recently registered a new domain. This number called, there were a few clicks on the end of the line and then they hung up.
I've now blocked the number.
I registered a web domain, a dot-com address. Note, I didn't make any webpages, just bought the domain, for 99 cents when one of the registrars was having a special. You are supposed to use a valid phone and email and have real contact info when you do this, just like registering a company, so like a fool I did. Within an hour I got FLOODED with spam calls from many different numbers and companies. There are tools they can use to monitor for new domains and they must be bombarding everyone they see trying to get business.
By the way, remember that some scammers, hackers etc. Need to register domains and have websites, fake or not, and they need to put some reg. Details (name, phone etc.) so I'm sure they're happy to use stolen data for that, maybe even YOUR info, and that might be why you're getting these calls from OTHER spammers/scammers, because they saw a new domain with your stolen name on it! And yeah, they REALLY don't give up. Had to install a number blocking app in my phone, though this was the only one that wasn't a private number. Just block those and most of them go away.
