Google Impersonation and Robocall Reports for 02 9171 4773

Contributors have reported 37 incidents involving 02 9171 4773 (also written as 0291714773), with a clear pattern of fake Google impersonation combined with automated robocall technology. Eight reports specifically describe callers claiming to represent Google or Google Partners, while another six document robocall characteristics - call centre background noise, silence on the line, and messages with no actual speaker. The number is registered as a local NSW service through AAPT Limited.

A significant finding across multiple reports about 0291714773 is that the number remains active despite contributors blocking it repeatedly. One contributor noted the calls keep coming back every few weeks. Another reported attempting to call 02 9171 4773 back and receiving a "number is no longer in service" message, suggesting possible spoofing or number cycling tactics.

What Callers from 02 9171 4773 Claim

Impersonation reports reveal callers using specific Google-related pretexts. One contributor reported a caller named "Michael" claiming to be from Google Apps, stating he had taken over the recipient's account and was now their manager. This caller reportedly knew the name of the person in charge of the business account, creating false credibility. Another report describes a caller claiming to manage a Google Ads account and asking to speak with the account holder about "offers".

A different incident involved a caller claiming to be from Google about "store photos". When the recipient asked for email communication instead of phone discussion, the caller became dismissive and hung up - a behaviour pattern suggesting the caller wanted to avoid creating a written record.

One contributor described a caller claiming to be a Google Ads account manager who repeatedly called despite being asked to stop. Another report mentions a caller who asked security questions even though they initiated the call, a reversal of normal verification procedures that should raise immediate suspicion.

Silent Calls, Robocalls, and Call Centre Noise

Four contributors reported silent calls from 02 9171 4773 with no one speaking on the line, while six described robocall characteristics. Multiple reports emphasise hearing "lots of chatter in the background" or "chaotic voices" - consistent with an automated dialling system connected to a call centre. One contributor received a voicemail left early in the morning containing only non-English voices with no actual message content.

Contributors attempting to block 0291714773 report that messages and calls continue getting through. One described it as "annoying" that despite blacklisting, the calls persist. The repeated-call tactic appears deliberate - one report specifically notes receiving multiple calls daily from this number.

Report Patterns and Timing

The earliest reports date to July 2025, with activity accelerating through late 2025 and continuing into 2026. Recent reports from December 2025 through March 2026 describe early morning calls and voicemails. One contributor reported receiving a call "early this morning", while another noted a voicemail left "early today". This timing pattern may indicate automated dialling systems running off-hours.

Reports span multiple communication channels - answered calls, voicemails, and missed calls - suggesting the campaign uses various contact methods. The robocall tactic appears in six separate incidents, silent calls in four, and impersonation in eight distinct reports, indicating a multi-layered attack approach.

What to Do If You Receive a Call from 02 9171 4773

If 02 9171 4773 calls you:

  • Do not: Engage with any claims about Google accounts, Google Ads, or Google Apps management; answer security questions posed by an incoming caller; provide personal or business details; call the number back
  • Do: Hang up immediately if you don't recognise the number; verify any legitimate Google communication by contacting Google directly through their official website or a known phone number; block the number in your phone settings; report repeated calls to the Australian Communications and Media Authority
  • If it's a robocall with silence or background noise: Hang up immediately - these are automated systems and do not represent legitimate business communication

If you have a genuine Google Ads or Google Apps account and receive unexpected calls about your account, independently verify the caller by contacting Google support directly rather than engaging with an incoming number.

What to Do If You Receive a Voicemail from 02 9171 4773

Several contributors received voicemails from 0291714773 containing only background noise or non-English voices with no intelligible message. If you receive a voicemail like this:

  • Do not: Call the number back; provide a callback number if requested; assume it's legitimate business communication
  • Do: Delete the voicemail; block the number; report it as spam to your phone provider; if calls continue after blocking, consider reporting to ACMA

Legitimate Google communication will always include clear, intelligible contact details and a specific business purpose in the message itself.

It's actually Google Ads, not a spammer lol, however they're still pretty useless, and their only interest is to get you to spend more money on ads without any tangible results.

Common advice includes switching to broad match keywords, changing campaign strategy to maximise conversions and other tactics that will just waste money on most campaigns unless you have exceptionally good tracking in Google Analytics, which most small businesses don't.

So do yourself a favour and ignore their calls and just work with a Google Ads consultant who will actually help you get more sales/leads while spending less on your ads:-)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 02 9171 4773 actually from Google?

No. Multiple contributors have reported that 02 9171 4773 (0291714773) impersonates Google or Google Partners but is not a legitimate Google contact number. One contributor who actually received a legitimate call from Google Partners noted it was distinctly different. Google will not call you unexpectedly about account management or ask you to verify security details over the phone. If you need to contact Google, visit their official website and initiate contact yourself rather than responding to an incoming call from 02 9171 4773.

Why do I keep receiving calls from 0291714773 even after blocking?

Six contributors reported that 0291714773 continues calling even after being blocked, and one noted the number appears to cycle or spoof different identifiers. This is a characteristic of robocalling operations that use automated systems to repeatedly attempt contact or may employ number spoofing (displaying different numbers while originating from the same source). Blocking individual instances may not stop the campaign. Reporting to ACMA at acma.gov.au helps authorities track and take action against these operations.

What should I do if the caller from 02 9171 4773 asks security questions?

Hang up immediately. One contributor reported receiving a call from 02 9171 4773 where the caller asked security questions - this is a red flag because legitimate organisations do not call you unexpectedly and then ask you to verify who you are. It should be the other way around. If a caller claiming to be from Google or any bank asks security questions on an incoming call, this is a scam tactic. Always hang up and contact the organisation directly using a number you find independently.

What if I heard background noise or silence from 02 9171 4773?

Background call centre chatter or complete silence from 0291714773 indicates an automated robocall system. Four contributors reported silent calls and six reported robocall characteristics with background noise but no actual speaker. These are not legitimate business calls. Do not engage, do not answer follow-up calls, and do not call the number back. Block it immediately and report to ACMA at acma.gov.au.

A caller from 02 9171 4773 knew my business details - should I be concerned?

Yes. One contributor reported that a caller claiming to be "Michael" from Google Apps knew the name of their account manager, which created false credibility. Scammers obtain business information from data breaches, social media, business directories, or previous contacts. Knowing public details about your business does not make a caller legitimate. Always verify by independently contacting Google or your service provider rather than engaging with an unexpected caller from 02 9171 4773.

How do I verify if a Google call is legitimate?

Never verify through the incoming call. If 02 9171 4773 or any number claims to be from Google, hang up and independently contact Google by visiting google.com.au or by finding their official support number yourself. Legitimate Google communication will be available through official channels. Do not rely on callback numbers provided by an incoming caller from 0291714773. If you have a Google Ads account with an actual issue, Google will reach out through your account dashboard and email, not unexpected robocalls.
