Scam alert! The caller pretended to be from Australia Post and sent a text message claiming that my Westpac bank account had been compromised. They were asking for my personal details, which raised immediate red flags.

Calls from this number are probably sophisticated scammers.

I received a call from this number which looked like a Westpac telephone number. I even received text messages from the usual Westpac text message number posing as the Westpac Fraud Department to identify the fraudster (Matthew Charles) as authentic. This fraudster wanted me to transfer money into another bank account to keep it safe from the person trying to scam.

When I phoned the bank they did not have a Matthew Charles in their phone directory.

My credit card then had fraudulent transactions late in the evening, lucky I locked the card as several other transactions were attempted from the UK.

Always call the bank and ask to be put through to the Fraud Department - NEVER give details to the person calling.

I got a pbone call from this number quoting my cc last 3 digit. He said that there is an overseas transaction (worth $6000) needed to clarify if it is mine.

When I said its not mine he ask me if I want to block the card and will send me 6 digits to my phone.

Lucky the call dropped off and I call westpac and I know he is a scammer, even he used the phone number similar to westpac.

So I suggest to call the bank directly if you receive any call from your bank.
