This is a LEGITIMATE number for Westpac's Fraud Department. I received an SMS overnight of potential fraudulent transactions. I responded to the SMS that they were fraudulent entries and Westpac called me within two hours of my confirmation. They did NOT ask for excessive personal information (e.g. only asked for last 4 digits of card, did not ask for my password) and were able to show my via my online banking that the card was 'frozen' so I knew I was dealing with Westpac and not a scammer.
There were three transactions on my account. Then they messaged me pretending to Bank SA asking me to verify the transaction. After that they called me pretending to be from Bank SA’s Fraud department. Don’t answer please.
