    Indian Accent, person asked (after a long wait for her to say something) if I was interested in something to do with slots and gambling. Politely told them not and hung up. ~3:45 pm 21/7/23.

    Received a call this morning from this number. They were wanting my email for a free economic book or some sort. While I never encountered this call before, what struck me the most was that the sound from the caller, who seemed to be using a soundboard, was advertising to me.

    The soundboard usually makes it either a prank or a telemarketer hiding their true voice, so it was inevitable that I hanged up with immediate effect.

    They ring, they hang up. None of the "options" on the call back work — neither does it reveal who the company is! Smells very bad.

    Was called on regarding a survey. The usual story a Government survey five questions, what they are really seeking is the answer to the last question - which is your favourite bank? Of course those who do answer give their bank I. E the one that has their mortgage, this information is then used to try and purchase the property by contacting the mortgagee.

    Sound far fetched, gave one of these people false info and was contacted by the bank named and told settlement would be arranged within a week the bank of course soon found they didn't hold any mortgage and were being used as part of a scam.

    I have had 2 calls from this number a few days apart. They hung up as soon as I answered. I called back once and there was an automated message with various options, something about marketing. Rubbish!

    Must be the day for all scammers/charities today - got 3 calls from three different numbers and this was one of them - I rang this one back and it was an automated voicemail but to my surprise you could advise them to remove your number from their database - lets wait and see if that happens - so watch this space!

    Was a caller from the Philippines asking for our state manager by his full name - which no-one ever does so my radar went up immediately - and also because I could hear a lot of call centre type noise in the background. He said he wanted to talk to him about the "Brownfields Project" (never heard of it). He said my manager was "involved with the Brownfield Project" (no he's not). I pushed for further information, he wouldn't (couldn't) give it, kept dancing around saying "Brownfield", then asked for my managers email address, which I refused to give, and as he wouldn't tell me what he wanted I hung up. I googled "Brownfield Project" and turns out it can be an investment strategy, or FDI, or software development, or engineering activity - none of which we are involved in. Scam artist and I'll be blocking his number!

    Scammer Told me they were from Residential support services. I asked what the call was about and they told me there was some tax refund. I told them I was on the do not call register and they hung up. I called the number back and there are several options and I pressed 1 to talk to an operator and it just hung up twice. SCAMMERS - do NOT deal with them.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
