    Scam call, pretending to be from Telstra Technical Department about my internet connection, told them I don't have one (as I always do when these idiot scammers call), then she said "Well you don't have a brain either" and then hung up on me.

    Similar to the other post. Said they were from Telstra National Broadband Network and that our Internet was slow. And latency was a problem. Asked me to do a speed test at which point I just hanged up. Could hear lots of other chatter in the background like a busy call centre.

    Call from National Broadband Network asking to run a speed test and proceeded to tell me my internet is slow (which is true), wanting me to download a software called Supremo and send a technician afterwards. Asked him how he received my number (since our internet is registered with my partner's details) and the guy said we are all registered with National Broadband Network Australia. Not sure about the legitimacy of the call, I hung up.

    This number called landline (all calls from out of local area are blocked), number displayed on caller ID.

    When rung back to identify, mobile phone lists as potential fraud/scam. No ring tone heard.

    SCAM written all over this number.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
