A caller pretended to be from Commonwealth Bank's Security team, which feels like a fraud attempt.
I answered a call and greeted the caller, but there was no response. After a few seconds, I heard a loud click and the call was disconnected. This seemed strange.
I got a call saying that my bank is currently holding charges from Mountain View Resort in the USA on my credit card. They asked whether I wanted to allow or deny the charges. However, the call was abruptly disconnected. Immediately afterward, I received another call from a different number (0411 817 291) asking why I hung up. That call was also disconnected.
I received an automated voicemail stating that a certain amount had been debited to my email account without confirming my identity. It prompted me to either accept or cancel the transaction by pressing a specific number, or to speak to a representative by pressing 9. I recognized this as a scam, so I hung up without engaging. While part of me was curious about what the representative would say, I chose to prioritize my time instead.
