    Got called by this number today 17/03/23. Normally wouldn't answer but looked like genuine Sydney business number. Automated message saying someone had tried to charge $900 on my account, (didn't say what or which account) for Bitcoin and to press one to deny the charge or 2 to authorise. I hung up. Gawd, they'll try anything these days, scumbag scammers.

    This is 100% a number being used by a Scammer. He told me that I was having an internet problem to which I returned the favour by giving him a Royal Aussie Verbal Salute and blocked him. These leeches need to be imprisoned.

    They left me a voice mail. I think it's a scamcaller saying to call back to talk to eBay customer services. Then I think they read me a number which is suppose to be my purchase number but then they said "if you have not made any purhcases please press 1 to talk to a customer service representative from eBay"

    Sounds sus, I would avoid it.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
