Understanding the Suspicious Nature of 02 9069 9099
The phone number 02 9069 9099 / 0290699099 has raised significant concern among users, primarily due to complaints about the automated nature of its calls. Characterised as a suspicious call, this number employs a tactic commonly associated with scams involving financial threats and frivolous purchases. Users describe receiving messages from what seems to be a voice machine claiming that unauthorised transactions have occurred—without any reputable introduction or verification.
Nature of the Call
Reports indicate that these calls mimic legitimate communication from banks, yet they lack essential details, such as personalisation (e.g., using the recipient's name) and valid identifiers of the bank itself. In this specific instance, the message referenced a fraudulent $300 purchase on the recipient's Visa card, whose identity was never disclosed. This could be a red flag indicating a phishing scam attempt, where the intent is to induce panic and urge individuals to press numbers that could compromise their security.
Why You Should Be Cautious
-
No Personalisation: Legitimate companies usually address customers by name and provide identifying details.
-
Lack of Clarity: The absence of information about which financial institution is contacting you is suspicious. Always remember that legitimate banks will not request sensitive information via cold calls.
-
Immediate Request for Action: Pressure tactics, like asking you to press "1" to verify transactions, are commonly used in scams to harvest personal details.

What Our Users Reviewed
Automated voice machine claiming that two purchases from my visa were made. One at the value of $300. Good luck with that because I don't even have $300 available on my Visa credit card. And then proceeded to tell me to press 1 to speak to someone. I'm all good thanks anyway, a) my bank sends me a notification via SMS of any purchases made from any of my bank cards and b) I'll just go and look up my own bank details on my own internet banking and then I will double check there if someone has made a purchase of $300 via my Visa card. No name given. Didn't even mention which "bank" they were from and didn't use my name either.
