If you've received a call from 02 9069 3015 / 0290693015, it's important to be cautious as user reports indicate that this number is associated with a scam operation. Specifically, it appears to be used for spoofing calls where scammers falsely claim to represent Visa regarding transactions made on platforms like eBay and Amazon.

Classification of 02 9069 3015

Based on user feedback, this particular phone number falls under the category of suspicious calls, and more importantly, it's classified as a scam call. Scammers often use familiar company names, like Visa, to elicit trust and encourage recipients to engage further. The method employed in this case—a prompt directing the recipient to press 1 to speak to an operator after claiming issues with recent transactions—is a classic strategy in telemarketing scams and phishing attempts.

How the Scam Works

According to a report from 16 December 2023, the number has been used to falsely represent financial institutions. Scammers typically inform victims that they must verify transactions, leveraging urgency and fear to prompt quick responses without allowing the target to critically assess the situation. In this case, when one user pressed 9 for reference, the operator on the other end had a distinct Asian accent and, after a brief silence, terminated the call when no response ensued. This behaviour aligns with known tactics used by scammers—that is, making vague claims to sow confusion and uncertainty.

This number has been spoofed by scammers. They claim to be calling from Visa regarding two transactions for eBay and Amazon, then prompting the caller to press 1 to speak to an operator. I pressed 9 for reference and a lady with Asian accent answered asking Hello multiple times before hanging up when I didn’t respond after 30 seconds.
