Understanding the Calls from 02 9068 6640
The number 02 9068 6640 / 0290686640 has raised numerous concerns among the Australian public. Identified repeatedly as a persistent caller from Total AV, a provider of antivirus software, this number fits the profile of a telemarketer attempting to recapture lapsed subscriptions. Let’s delve deeper into why this number has become a nuisance for many and what you can do if you receive a call.
How Users Rate This Caller
Reviews collected from users over time suggest this number consistently engages in unsolicited outreach. Users have reported receiving multiple calls weekly, often without gaining any substantive engagement. Commonly, these calls do not leave messages or feature only background office noise, leading to frustration and suspicion. The overwhelming sentiment is that this number is intrusive and unreasonable.
The Nature of the Calls
Despite several users initially perceiving the calls as harmless outreach due to a previous subscription, the reality appears to be far more concerning. Persistent attempts to extract information or coax previous customers into renewing contracts, despite clear indications of disinterest, align closely with abusive telemarketing practices.
Some descriptions mention accented callers — likely being from offshore support — struggling with clarity and comprehension. This raises further red flags, challenging the legitimacy of the outreach and the sincerity of the service being offered. Numerous reports detail exchanges that end abruptly, with calls being disconnected once the conversation turns unfavourable for them.
Dealing with 02 9068 6640 / 0290686640 Calls

Very persistent. I have the phone number blocked but I still receive a missed call sms. Between May and December 2024 I have had 23 missed call message notifications for this number. Whilst I have never answered any calls, as others have said it is connected to a Total Av subscription as it is always around the time of renewal for the anti-virus program. They have never tried to reach me via email so I am suspicious of them calling and refuse to answer, but I don't answer most phone calls these days due to so many scam calls. It is very annoyng and I wish they would stop calling. I cancelled my subscription and they still tried calling again recently. Very telemarketer scammy type behaviour from an antivirus company. Gross!
I previously had a subscription with this company, which I chose not to renew. Despite my repeated requests to stop contacting me, they continue to call and harass me to renew my subscription. I've made it clear that I am no longer interested in their services, yet they persistently reach out to me multiple times a day.
I suspect this was a spam call because the individual who spoke to me had difficulty speaking English. He appeared to have an Indian accent, but I found it hard to understand what he was trying to say.
The caller asked to speak to my husband by name. I asked them to hold on, but when my husband asked who was calling, they hung up. I have since blocked the number.
The caller insisted that my service was not set to auto-renew, and they were very persistent in their attempts to get a response from me.
I used to be a subscriber to their service, but my subscription has lapsed. They called me to reach out, which I understand, although I didn’t want to continue the service.
I have been receiving constant calls from this number, which I do not recognize, so I stopped answering. I have now blocked it. In previous calls where I did answer, an Indian-sounding woman laughed when I asked who she was and then hung up.
This number appeared on my phone as a "blocked caller" since January 2023. They didn't leave a message, which leads me to assume that it is yet another scam call.
When I answered this call, the person claimed to be from Total AV Software regarding antivirus services.
I got a call from this number approximately 15 minutes after experiencing three dropped support calls to Optus customer service. Since I didn’t recognize the number, I opted not to answer. They didn’t leave any message. This might be linked to a hack involving Optus, which has been a concern.
Calling three-four times/week.
Picked up once.
Couldn’t hear properly or understand her.
Told to not call again, hung up.
Still calling.
Avoid picking up and block number.
Do not give your details at all.
Called, left a message but it was just office sounding (?) ambiance.
Called 3 times, didn't leave a message.
