The caller claimed that I had another Australian mobile phone that was allegedly making harassment calls, and they also asserted that I had applied for it using my passport, which is untrue.
The caller claimed that my mobile number was listed as an emergency contact for another Australian mobile phone that was used in China to make harassing calls. They attempted to get me to report to the police in China and mentioned some sort of border control issue. Initially, I found it hard to determine whether this was a scam. The caller provided their number, name, and ID, claiming they would assist me in reporting to ACMA if I stayed on the line to answer questions.
