On July 26, 2022, I received a call claiming to be from eBay, stating that a $299 gift card had been ordered from my account and that my device had been hacked. When I asked the caller to verify my account, they were unable to provide my account name, which made me doubt their legitimacy.
I received a call that lasted only 5 seconds while I was at the gym lifting weights, and then it abruptly ended.
I received an automated call claiming that a payment of $299.00 was initiated from my account without specifying where it was being sent. They instructed me to press "1" or call back the number that was calling me to stop the transaction. However, there are no PayPal accounts linked to the number that received this call. The incident date was July 19, 2022.
