This person going by the name of bob francis rang my parents telling my father that his micro soft windows has a problem.

Funny thing is he's running a mac with no windows installed.

This phone number is being used as a calling reference point to verify "windows technicians".

They use this cover to gain direct access to a persons computer, then asking for $260 for it's release.

Even when $260 is given, they explore the PC for bank account information or personal data.

It is a scam.

Caller claimed that my computer ID (Windows I think, but hard to tell because of his almost-impenetrable accent)was being used on multiple sites. Wanted to guide me through my computer to address the problem. Very persistent caller -everytime I hung up he would call again. Eventually I took my phone off the hook.

What is the government body responsible for policing this sort of telephone spam? To judge from other comments posted on Web, this has been going on for months. (must be profitable?).
