Indian scammer called about my car on Gumtree saying I was in an accident.

C
Conklin

I received a call from this number and in Indian sounding man in a room that had the echo of a house rather than a call center saying I "was involved in an car accident and that I'm eligible for compensation." I, being the one who was at fault in the accident didn't think I was eligible for compensation and as I kept saying so and asking other questions he kept talking around what I was saying trying to explain everyone gets it and that it's "for your own discomfort and inconvenience, not for the car you were driving". I told him I was going home to get my details and to call me in an hour. He said okay. So I called the police instead and told them about the call, they replied saying "it is a well known scam, don't give any details." So a heads up to everyone, it's a scam, don't give any details.
