Caller Behaviour and User Experiences
Users have expressed frustration about persistent calls from 02 8917 0011 / 0289170011. According to reports dating back to August 2022, the number has repeatedly attempted to reach out to individuals even those with unlisted numbers, suggesting a disorganized telemarketing effort prioritising aggressive solicitation over respectful practices.
Subsequent reviews note that after answering, callers often launch into lengthy pitches about supposed charitable initiatives. One user highlighted that despite blocking the number, the calls continued, further indicating a systematic issue with caller compliance to stop contacting those who express disinterest.
Is It a Scam?
A few reviews also suggest that the calls may border on being scams. I received a notification from Optus stating that the number I attempted to dial has been disconnected. This happened twice within two days, each time resulting in the same message when I tried to call back.
This number continues to call me frequently but does not leave any messages. While I have blocked the number, I still receive notifications of their calls, which is frustrating.
This is a scam call. The caller claimed they were not asking for money and wanted to inform me about Careflight's work. However, within a minute, they shifted to asking for a donation and requested my credit card information.
I received a lengthy phone call from someone asking for donations but refused to take "no" for an answer. They continued to pester me, making the experience quite frustrating. I advise avoiding this number if possible.
Despite blocking this number, they continue to call me every day and fail to leave any messages. This is quite frustrating and seems suspicious.
I received multiple calls from this number in just two hours, and I am frustrated that these callers don't seek legitimate employment. If I want to make a donation, I'll do it directly!
I received a call on my personal mobile, which is unlisted and known only to a few friends and family. I chose to reject the call and subsequently blocked the number to prevent future contact.
Block their number, they will harass you for months (5+ times a day), and when you answer you will be guilt-tripped and harassed into giving them money. Do charity donations directly, not through telemarketers as it is a scam that they profit off, and the actual charity gets next to nothing. Block them ASAP.
Scam, been harassing myself and my partner for months.
Definite SCAM.. Trying to get donations for Royal Blind Institute.. If you are happy to donate and give your bank details … go for it.. Otherwise I suggest you do NOT answer and NEVER return the call.
