Yes, I got this today too. The "James Appleton" person left a message on my landline saying that there had been a complaint against me about Tax evasion and that I would be arrested.... etc... He has a Philipino accent.
If scammers had more brains, would they not use some other department apart from the tax office?

Received a message bank message from this number. Message claimed that it was a guy called James Appleton from the Australian Taxation Office and they were going to take legal action against me in the federal court unless I returned their call to this number. Also said to not disregard this call. It is a SCAM. I checked with ATO and Telstra and it is a scam.
