    Got a call on my mobile from this call centre. Was told that I qualified as a mystery shopper and that I could watch a product presentation and be paid $50 gift card. He then went on and asked questions to see if I was qualified. Sounded suspicious so I hung up on him.

    Several unanswered calls from this number so far today. Phone rings 5-6 times and stops if unanswered. Annoying!

    I get 3-5 calls a day. First time I answered and they tried to sell me a mortgage product. I said I wasn't interested but they keep calling back insisting they have never called me before.

    This number has called me every day for the past week and four times today - they leave no message and when you try to call back it is not in service.

    I had a call with a link sent through to my phone not sure who the company is. They said they were from "Wealth First". I didn't know this company. It did sound like a busy call centre.

    Call came through when I was on the phone from that number so it went through to an answering machine. I sounded like it was a call centre and the line was disconnected. When I called the number back it said that the number was not connected. Fairly certain it was an OS call masking as a local number.

    02 8866 prefix looks like a Sydney number but there is no phone book entry or website for the company using it. Also the prefix 02 8866 has not been allocated to any of the telco suppliers in Australia.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
