The scammers behind this number employ pre-recorded messages that attempt to induce fear and urgency regarding supposed fraudulent activities on popular platforms, particularly linked to financial transactions.
Based on user feedback, this number has been classified as a scam, dedicated to duping unsuspecting individuals. Callers have detailed various types of messages received, that aim to manipulate victims into providing personal information or confirming bogus transactions. Here are some notable points about the calls reported:
- Type of Scam: The calls are automated recordings impersonating well-known companies like Visa and Amazon. The messages often inform recipients of questionable transactions and prompt them to press numbers to 'validate' their purchases.
- Familiar Targets: The claims typically centre around large amounts supposedly spent on platforms such as eBay or Amazon. Even if the recipient isn't a customer of these services, the lack of awareness may induce panic, leading them to engage with the information.
- Perpetrators' Tactics: The use of accents commonly associated with call centres adds an unsettling layer to the experience—all part of a strategy designed to appear more legitimate and trustworthy.
How should you handle a call from this number? Here are some prudent steps:
- Do Not Engage: If you receive a call from this number, simply hang up. Engaging can often lead to unwanted follow-ups.
- Verify Independently: If you're concerned about potential fraud, contact your bank or the legitimate service directly using contact information from their official website, not the number provided in the call.
- Report the Number: Use services like Reverseau to report spam and scam numbers. This helps others identify these fraudulent calls.

Got a call today from this number, turned out to be a recording - supposedly from Amazon Prime about being charged. Since I don’t have an Amazon account, yet another scam. Just hang up.
Call today regarding my Amazon account and suspected fraud purchase of iPhone. Clearly a major call center and speaker with a strong indian accent.
Called me and it was a recording from VISA to press 1 if I made a transaction of $300 and $1000 on eBay. Clearly a scammer.
Left a nonsense message.
Clearly a scammer though.
A pre-recorded voice message asked me to press a number, likely for a scam attempt, and then disconnected the call abruptly.
Had a call from this number (on an unlisted internal work number) and it was a bogus recording from "Visa" advising of two transactions, press one, etc. Didn't have time to prank them:(
