02 8783 8452 (0287838452): Community reports describe threatening voicemails, silent calls, and callers impersonating government services demanding bank details.
Threatening Calls and Impersonation from 02 8783 8452
Four contributors have reported concerning activity from 02 8783 8452 (also written as 0287838452), a Telstra local service number in NSW. The reports describe a pattern of threatening behaviour combined with attempts to impersonate government services. Multiple contributors received voicemails with explicit threats of physical harm, while others experienced intimidating callback tactics and claims of authority.
What distinguishes this number is the escalation in behaviour when contributors called back. Rather than backing off when questioned, the caller from 02 8783 8452 became aggressive, insisted on government authority, and made demands for sensitive financial and residential information.
What Callers from 02 8783 8452 Say and Do
One contributor who called back 0287838452 reported that the caller initially claimed to be from a government service, mentioned expecting packages (suggesting delivery scam framing), then became hostile when challenged. The caller demanded bank account details and residential address, then attempted to arrange an in-person meeting when the contributor refused.
Two separate voicemail reports from 02 8783 8452 contained explicit threats. One message stated "I'll fix you bruv," while another voicemail threatened the contributor directly: "they were coming to my house to harm me." These calls came at different times - early morning and late night - suggesting deliberate timing to maximize distress.
A fourth report described receiving a missed call from 0287838452, but when the contributor attempted to call back, they heard only ambient noise of a highway with no one responding. This silent-call pattern, combined with evidence the caller may have been physically nearby (based on camera audio matching the call noise), raises concerns about surveillance or harassment rather than typical fraud.
Report Patterns and Behaviour Timeline
The most recent report from 02 8783 8452 occurred in March 2026 and involved the most complex impersonation attempt. The caller from this number demonstrated knowledge tactics consistent with multiple fraud types - falsely claiming government affiliation, mentioning parcel delivery, requesting payment details, and attempting to escalate to an offline meeting.
Earlier reports from 0287838452 spanning 2023-2026 show a consistent pattern of threatening communications. The voicemail threats occurred several years ago, but recent activity suggests the number remains active for harassment. The mix of call types (missed calls, answered calls, voicemails) and tactics (threats, impersonation, silent calls) indicates this may not be a single automated campaign but deliberate harassment.

What Our Users Reviewed
Got a missed call I thought it was a legitimate organisation such as to do with Centrelink, disability services or the bank. It was neither. I called the number back and he was very rude, asked me to stop calling me, and then when I said I got a missed call from this number, he proceeded to say he's not from Liverpool, he's from Miller, and asked if I'm expecting any packages, then exclaimed he was from a government service and needs my bank account and residential information, then when I said to him he's not, he tried to ask me to meet up with him.
I was staying at a refuge with my 4 year old daughter and I had a missed call from this number so I called the number back and all I heard was cars passing on a highway but noone talked. When I checked camera monitor at the front door I realised it was the same noise as if the person was literally at the same place as I was. I panicked and started screen recording the call and screen recorded the camera monitor so I could have that as evidence when the police came. I CALLED TWICE WITHIN AN HOUR AND NOONE CAME TO OUR AID OR SAFETY!!!!!! THE POLICE STATION IS ONLY AROUND THE CORNER!!!! IF WE WAS WHITE CUNTS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN HERE IN A HEARTBEAT!!!!!
Called early morning and again at night with messages, one particularly threatening saying I'll fix you bruv
Voicemail was threatening, said they were coming to my house to harm me
Man mumbling on the line, hung up, call from Liverpool NSW

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Is 02 8783 8452 a legitimate government number?
No. Multiple contributors who called back 0287838452 found the caller made contradictory claims about identity and location (claiming to be from "Miller" not "Liverpool"), then became aggressive and demanded bank details. Legitimate government agencies like Services Australia, the ATO, and banks do not call unsolicited demanding bank account information. If you are unsure, hang up and ring the agency directly using the phone number on your official statements or their website, not a number provided by the caller from 02 8783 8452.
What should I do if I receive a threatening voicemail from 02 8783 8452?
Do not delete the message. Save it as evidence by recording or screenshotting it. Report the threat immediately to your local police station or call 131 444 (non-emergency). Also report to the ACMA at acma.gov.au. Block 0287838452 in your phone settings. If the threat involves imminent danger, call 000.
Why did the caller from 02 8783 8452 try to arrange a meeting?

Should I call 02 8783 8452 back if I miss a call from this number?
No. One contributor who called back 0287838452 found a hostile caller who became aggressive, made contradictory claims about location and identity, demanded personal information, and later attempted to arrange a meeting. Calling back gives the person your verified active number and willingness to engage. If you are concerned about a missed call, try to identify the caller independently before calling back, or block the number.
What is the difference between the threats from 02 8783 8452 and other scam calls?
Most scam calls from 0287838452 follow a pattern: impersonation, information gathering, and financial requests.
