    I just got a phone call from this number and told me that I have been registered as the emergency contact, and told me the name that register under this number will be cancelled in 2 hours. So I told her to cancel immediately and hang up. I think it's a scam call.

    Scam, I have received a few similar targeting Chinese speakers. The ascent indicates more south East Asian area Chinese speaker. Sometimes the caller would repeatedly call to pester. I find it effective to state that I don’t speak Chinese.

    I just received the same call exactly like you said. However, he thought my number was for my mum. I didn't say he's calling the wrong number. This really worries me as the only document which has ever used my mobile as my mum's mobile is on TPG website when applying for an AUS sim.

    Hi All, This is our business number. We would never randomly call you. You would be dealing with us already before you ever received a call from this number. Seems that someone has been spoof calling using our number. We have sent complaints to the proper channels. Again, we would never randomly call you.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
