    Scam still going,

    Date...3/01/2017...

    Number used...02 8607 8601.

    Saying pension has increased & need to answer yes or no to accepting increase. Didn't go further as knew it wasn't centrelink. Since Telstra has records of all numbers and when they are used, I find the situation suspect...

    Questions...

    How come nothing done?.. Same number used in October 2016.

    How does someone gain from this?.. Has to be some intent.

    One trace says it could be coming from Park Regis City Centre Sydney CBD. But cannot confirm. Be forewarned. Thx.

    This number has been left by on my answering machine by someone posing as being from Centrelink. They are using a computerized system which I believe is calling random numbers and they are also using an Australian females recorded/computer generated voice in order for it to sound more convincing. Their system goes on about increases to Centrelink payments and how I am entitled to a back payment and how I need to make a claim in order to receive it, it is a scam! Do not fall for it and tell these idiots nothing. I am writing this in the hope that it will someone who has the power to have these morons shut down.

    Got recording, stating they were from Centerlink and had tried unsuccessfully to contact me via mail. My file was being moved to Canberra and I should ring 02 8607 8601. I have no arrangent with Centerlink so thought it a scam and did not call.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
