What Kind of Spam is It?
Many callers have reported receiving messages that claim to be from Amazon, indicating unauthorized transactions set to deduct funds from their accounts. The automated voice instructs recipients to respond by pressing a button if they wish to cancel. However, pressing that button only leads callers to an Indian-accented representative who promptly hangs up after minimal interaction.
Why You Should Be Cautious
- Automated Calls: The robotic nature of the voice messages suggests a systematic approach to target individuals for potential scams.
- Phishing Attempt: Scammers attempt to extract personal information by creating urgency about a supposed charge, a classic phishing tactic.

Unknown (02) landline number when I don't live in NSW. I get many of these and they are always Indian scam calls. I stopped answering years ago, they never stop calling, though by never answering at least they have slowed down to once a week.
Best thing to do is let it ring out. Definitely do not answer or speak to them, there is NOTHING you can say that will make any difference, it's all automated. If you cancel/reject or block the call they get an engaged tone and their database records that someone was there and did something, that's a response. Don't respond at all and they will try elsewhere.
I got a call from 02 8552 5925 claiming to be Amazon telling me that $99.99 was going to be taken out of my acc and to press 1 if this was wrong and I wanted to cancel it it was a robotic voice that talked really fast I pressed one and was forwarded to an Indian voice who hung up on me when I asked them to provide a name of who is being charged.
Automated spam caller.
