Scammers behind 02 8551 8711 (0285518711) likely obtained your information through data breaches, phishing campaigns, or purchased contact lists. They use this pre-existing knowledge to appear legitimate and create a false sense of urgency. One contributor who received a call from 02 8551 8711 noted the callers already knew their full name and suburb, suggesting compromised data sources. Never assume a caller is legitimate simply because they know personal details.

Is 02 8551 8711 a real PayPal number?

No. 02 8551 8711 (0285518711) is being used to impersonate PayPal. PayPal does not make unsolicited calls asking for passwords, account confirmation, or personal information. The allocation data shows 02 8551 8711 is registered to Symbio Networks in NSW, not PayPal. Always verify by calling PayPal directly using the number on your official statement or their website.

What should I do if I already gave information to someone claiming to be from PayPal on 02 8551 8711?

Report the call to ACMA (acma.gov.au) and Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au) so authorities can investigate.

Why does 02 8551 8711 appear to have an Indian call centre operation?

Multiple contributors reported that both the female initial contact and the male "manager" on 02 8551 8711 (0285518711) had Indian accents. This is typical of offshore scam operations that use international call centres to maintain distance from law enforcement. The use of a team approach with a transfer to a "manager" is a deliberate social engineering tactic designed to increase perceived legitimacy.

If I missed a call from 02 8551 8711, should I call back?

No. Do not return the call to 02 8551 8711 or 0285518711. The Do Not Call Register (donotcall.gov.au) targets telemarketing, but 02 8551 8711 (0285518711) is a scam operation, not legitimate telemarketing. Instead, report it directly to ACMA (acma.gov.au) for illegal scam activity. Block the number on your phone to prevent future calls from 02 8551 8711, and encourage others to do the same.
