What’s the Scam About?

The callers claiming to represent Visa and MasterCard appear to use a common tactic—posing as employees of financial institutions to extract personal information or incite fear about supposed fraudulent activities on your account. In the reviews gathered, users consistently noted the foreign accent of the callers, along with the vague responses they provided when pressed for legitimate call-back details.

Warning Signs

  • The caller fails to provide a legitimate phone number for call-backs, claiming the institution does not allow sharing direct lines.
  • Requests for personal information are met with intimidation or urgency, pressuring you to reveal sensitive details.
  • The lack of professional communication raises further red flags, especially concerning sensitive topics like fraud.
