    Just posted a comment on 02 86082423. This is a call center staffed by predominantly Indian staffers flogging life insurance. I'm getting a call just about every day from either 02 85204016 or 02 86082423. Same mob.

    The 02 suggests that the calls originate in Sydney but I think they may be on relay from New Delhi India.

    Try asking the caller some questions about Australia. It's quite entertaining. Or just xxxx off.

    A man just called me asking for Mandy. Telemarketers of late have been calling me a lot asking for that name so it must be their pawn move. I just said sorry and hung up immediately cos I've had people say to me before saying, "oh hey that's ok if you're not Mandy, you're the still the owner of this number and I'm sure you won't want to say no to this amazing deal!".

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
