What Our Users Reviewed
It is a scam because I called go Mastercard from my other phone and it was a womas voice recording and also that they were closes as Sunday out of hours. They had tried to access my card from one small purchase through PayPal and then a larger amount to the go Mastercard attached to PayPal but it bounces as no money on it. So it’s a legit scam offering a fitness ap for 10.99 but then try take 79.00 off your card. Was called musclemad or something for a work out ap. So they sell you a product but want to take a bigger grab out of your card/s attached to pay pal. I went to PayPal to contest, also removed all cards off of PayPal. Procès that PayPal gives you a level of protection / buffer.
Was from Go Mastercard/Latitude following up on overseas transaction, requested some details to verify
Call redirected to URL claiming to be about fraud prevention for Latitude Financial, not legitimate
Turned out to be legitimate, Microsoft verifying a transaction I attempted on my card
Seems to be legitimate fraud department from card issuer checking transactions for security
Missed call, voicemail asked me to enter personal details. sounded like Latitude. checked with ASIC and they confirmed it's a scam
Recorded message claiming fraudulent payment on mastercard under name of former employee, instructed to hold for assistance but call disconnected
Claimed to be from Go Mastercard Fraud Department about recent transaction, emphasized not marketing but important
Person said they were GO Master, just verifying if it was me using my card
Call about verifying a recent transaction, seemed legitimate

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Is 02 8488 4947 really Mastercard or Latitude Financial?
Not always. While three contributors reported legitimate calls from 02 8488 4947 for fraud verification, four others confirmed scam activity. The safest approach: if 02 8488 4947 calls about your card, hang up and call your bank directly using the number on your card. Genuine financial institutions won't mind you verifying the call this way. If 0284884947 is legitimate, your bank will confirm it when you ring them back.
What should I do if I clicked a link from an SMS claiming to be from Mastercard at 02 8488 4947?
Act quickly. Check your bank and PayPal accounts for unauthorised charges immediately. Change your passwords if you entered credentials on the phishing site. Report the link to ReportCyber at cyber.gov.au. Contact your bank to monitor your account for fraud. One contributor who received SMS from 0284884947 had charges of $10.99 and an attempted $79 charge; they successfully disputed these through PayPal by reporting the scam.
Why did 02 8488 4947 charge me $10.99 then try to take $79?
This is a layered scam tactic. Scammers using 0284884947 often process a small charge first (like $10.99 for a fitness app called musclemad) to test if the card is active and to build false credibility. Once that succeeds, they attempt a much larger charge ($79 or more) hoping you won't notice. One contributor caught this pattern and disputed both charges through PayPal, who provides protection for these situations.
I received a voicemail from 02 8488 4947 asking for personal details. Is this safe?
No. Legitimate financial institutions never ask for sensitive information via voicemail. One contributor received a voicemail from 0284884947 claiming to be Latitude Financial, requesting personal details; they verified with ASIC that it was a confirmed scam. If you receive such a voicemail, delete it and do not call back. Instead, contact Latitude or Mastercard directly using the number on your statement.
What's the difference between a legitimate call from 02 8488 4947 and a scam call?
Legitimate calls from 02 8488 4947 are brief and specific: 'We noticed an overseas transaction on your account, can you confirm?'. Scam calls from 0284884947 have these red flags: robotic recorded messages, requests to enter personal details, disconnections when questioned, or redirects to external links. If in doubt, hang up and call your card issuer directly using the number on your card-this is always the safest way to verify a call.
How can I protect myself from being charged unauthorised amounts by 02 8488 4947?
Monitor your bank and PayPal accounts regularly for unexpected charges. If you see a charge from a merchant linked to 0284884947 or related scams (like musclemad fitness app), immediately dispute it through PayPal or your bank. Remove all payment cards from PayPal if you're concerned. One contributor removed their cards from PayPal after the scam attempt and noted PayPal provides a level of protection and dispute resolution for unauthorised charges.
