    My sister just had the same blue screen with white writing appear. The 02 number appears to be disconnected. But she shut down and rebooted (as it would not let her close the page) and the page has disappeared. Optus have had a few calls about it but I am not sure what the outcome is. Sounds very dodgy to me.

    10/10 Would prank again...

    Saw this number pop up on a friend's pc. Called up to see how the scam worked.

    Operator took offence at being called bro or my phonetic spelling of Eric..

    Was told by customer service officer he'd come by my house and give my family a good time.

    Great if you just need to yell at someone. Reason doesn't really matter. Operators know what they are doing is unethical.

    Had the blue screen come up with a pop-up white box saying that as an Optus customer (which I am) my personal details and bank accounts may have been compromised. I was to ring this number so that tech support can help me to clear this potential virus. An Indian sounding guy transferred me to another Indian sounding guy who said they were Microsoft tech support and wanted to know whether I was on a Mac or Windows operating system, the year my computer was made and who else used my computer. When I started to question his credentials, he got shirty and started to lecture me about not trusting him. He asked to get access to my computer. I said "No - I need to research who you are." He said, "You do that, and call us back" As if.......

    Do not waste your time. Your computer is fine.

    Got the blue screen called the number the guy Kevin gave Microsoft address and advised he needed access to my computer fell for that showed lots of files gave the spiel about how Microsoft could fix it. Luckily I had to go out he got very shirtly when I told him I would contact Microsoft later then the penny dropped thankfully I did not give him the details. Called Microsoft on held too long searched found this, called Kevin back and told him what I thought of him and his wanker mates.

    Clicked on a link which redirected me to a website telling me to call this number, saying that a serious threat had been detected and it gave me the whole blue screen of death thing. Pretty obviously fake, don't worry if this pops up on a web page on your browser, there is no virus and the link didn't give you a virus, just X the popup and close the tab/window. Do not call the number.

    If this pops up on your computer NOT through a certain web page, or if it continually pops up on your browser, take your computer into a local store to fix it and get rid of any viruses.

    I received a pop up screen on my internet saying that all my details were at risk and that it was Optus Singtel. I called the number on my landline and when I asked what company it was they said it was Microsoft. Whoever this was hijacked my machine and I could not access my internet. I just shutdown my machine and all seems to be OK now. DO NOT CALL.

    Do NOT call this number!!!

    Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to start task manager & close your internet pages this way. The thief at the end of the phone will tell you this is a Microsoft GENUINE problem and the only way to fix this block on your computer is to give him remote access to your computer. When you tell him you don't know for sure if he is with Microsoft, he hangs up.

    DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER OR GIVE DETAILS IT IS A SCAM!!!!!

    I had a blue screen pop up on my laptop saying I must call this number immediately because people were hacking information. So I called the number and an indian, Alen Frank(I think) answered asking what the issue was, I told him and he led me through a few steps to get connected with my computer to fix the issue. I followed the steps, and he was connected, I stayed on the phone to him, he then said I needed a technician to fix it, and the fee would be $129 and I had to give him a visa/mastercard. I don't have one. He then said that my computer would not work properly and people can access my information. However, I have Norton security on my laptop to prevent viruses etc. He then connected to me through a technical support messaging thing. The call had a lot of background noise and his advice was very untechnical. I eneded the call him still hacking my laptop asking me for my facebook etc, so I denied permission and consulted Norton security, they fixed the problem.

    The guy asked me questions like what I do for a living, I replied I go to school, he than asked me what year I was in? This had no relevance to my problem, so I said it was a scam and his reaction was "nooo why do you think like that? I managed to get out of the conversation.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
