02 8318 8102 - Scam Robocall Impersonating Origin Energy

This number did not leave a voicemail message, which makes me suspicious that it might be a spam scam attempt.

I find Origin to be very unprofessional. They repeatedly call me just seconds after my bill is due, but when I need them to come out and fix a fault, they seem too busy with their excessive profits to help. Their customer service is frustratingly poor.

I have been noticing that the media regularly airs warnings about phone scams; however, it seems that many large corporations do not provide sufficient staffing to resolve issues in a fair and efficient manner. It’s frustrating because if someone is hesitant to trust automated voices, they are often unfairly labeled as uncooperative.

I doubt that this number genuinely belongs to Origin, as they call me multiple times a day using recorded messages, yet never leave a voicemail. It feels like a nuisance.

Considering that Australians lost more than $1 billion last year due to spam phone calls and emails, I do not feel comfortable following the instructions of an automated service that requests my payment details.

I have received three calls today (June 9th) and three calls on June 2nd from this number, all of which were flagged as suspected spam by my phone. Since I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, none of the calls left voicemail messages.

I’m confused as to why they are now pursuing me for an overdue bill, especially since I have no gas service at my current address.

This number belongs to overseas collectors from Origin Energy. They will be very aggressive in their collection tactics. If you tell them you've already paid, they may lie and claim your gas or electricity will be cut off, which is false. If you have indeed paid, they already have that information. It’s best to hang up on these calls.
