    Sick of this number calling. There is never anyone there and then it hangs up. Not answering doesn't work as it goes to messagebank and I have to ring and delete it. Annoying either way!

    The call only rings a few times - usually before it can be answered. If you do manage to answer the call, there is nothing but silence for a moment, and then the call is terminated. I suspect that the caller's intention is to pray on your natural curiosity so that you will call the number to find out who tried to contact you. My guess is that the call may incur extra charges, or some other scam designed to part you with your money.

    Yes on a very regular basis. Many other nuisance mail/Text, names that don't show any phone numbers in their details, and other possible Phishing & spam numbers have been put into my Contacts as Spam so they are immediately easily recognised when receiving via messages [SMS] or phone calls. You can then just delete them and don't answer.

    I live in the Wollongong area and have been getting repeated calls from this number for the last 2 weeks. Either hangs up when I answer or rings but leaves no message.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
