02 8311 6644: - Scam Call regarding NSW Government LED Lights

It seems I’m not alone in receiving unwanted calls from this number. I’ve received multiple calls on my landline, which is supposed to be registered on the Do Not Contact list. I am starting to doubt the effectiveness of that service because it feels like I’m being harassed multiple times a day. I never answer calls from numbers I do not recognize.

I have had several calls from this number I usually hang up but talked to the person who mentioned my address and said it was regarding renewing my globes with the new LED globes. I told him I already had them and that I’d had several calls both from his number and others which I’d hung up on. He said he would make sure I would not get any more. I still think it is a scam as they have all had very poor English though I did not engage with the others just let them talk and hung up on them.

The caller was a lady with foreign accent, claiming to be ‘Monika’ from the “NSW Energy Savings Scheme”. When I asked her what location she was calling from she replied: “Sydney”. I let her talk for a while then told her she was not calling from Sydney and the number was spoofed. She abruptly hung up.
