I now have received several calls from the number 02 8311 6644, which I did not answer, so decided to answer just once to find out who was calling. The number is a Sydney number but appears on the Calling Number Display as ‘Out of area’ which made me suspect it may be a spoofed number.
The caller was a lady with foreign accent, claiming to be ‘Monika’ from the “NSW Energy Savings Scheme”. When I asked her what location she was calling from she replied: “Sydney”. I let her talk for a while then told her she was not calling from Sydney and the number was spoofed. She abruptly hung up.
