    Genuine call from Qantas Money regarding a dispute I had lodged. Not sure why people are commenting stating it is a scam number(?).

    Genuine call from CitiBank about a disputed transaction I had referred to the bank. This is despite the call showing as Suspected Spam on my mobile.

    Said he was calling me about my QMoney dispute. Don't have a dispute. Phoned Qantas and they confirmed it was a scam. Don't be fooled!!! Give them nothing - don't even confirm your name!

    Scammers - do not trust.

    The positive reviews below are likely to be the scammers hoping to trick you into accepting their calls.

    They will say they are from your bank or credit card (and may possibly have your name and credit card number) and that there has been suspicious activity on your account. They will then “prove” it by sending you a text message from your bank with a number to read out - DO NOT DO THIS!

    This is a one-time pin generated by your bank to authorise when you do a large online shop - if you read it aloud, they will immediately enter the number and your card will be charged.

    I have also received very muffled voicemails from the number with the only clear part saying it’s my bank. When I have spoken to my bank (using the number on the back of my card), they have said there are no records of them trying to contact me. The scammers hope you will listen to the voicemail and then answer the call the next time so they can scam you.

    If you receive any call from your bank, immediately tell them you will call them back using the number on your card. Do not let them coerce you into using any other number or reading aloud any text.

    It is genuine Citi Bank which owns Coles Mastercard, when you conducted multiple transactions at the same location in a short period of time frame, they will call you to see those transactions were made by you.

    Card hacked, have a dispute with bank. However very suspicious, possible re-routing of number to look genuine - be careful text message made no sense. Look comment re- Philippines and consider re-routing scam. Will contact bank department dealing with issue.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
