    0282784527 - This is entirely a fraud number. When I refuse to pay without consulting my husband or lawyer, the person asked me to Google the number, it came as fraud in reverseau website. He asked me to type 61 in front and Google, it had redirected me to VFS global site. But when he insisted on paying while on call, it made me suspicious of him. I told him to send me an email from VFS global email id for which initially he declined but later accepted it but I still did not receive any email yet.

    But it was late before I realized that it's a spam as he took all my personal details by then.

    The call is very intimidating as the person sounds very strict and speaks as if we did some horrible mistakes in our applications. He also knows some of our information already (may be from social profiles), which makes us believe the call is genuine.

    Make your due diligence before sharing personal information and specially before making the payment.

    Beware! This is SPAM, not VFS Global.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
